Oh My Blog! - February Edition - Life, Love and Chaos

This is Oh My Blog! A brand new monthly interview series featuring a whole host of fellow bloggers. Each month, we’ll be bringing you different themed posts showcasing the very best bloggers out there. This month, the questions are based on the fitting February topic of love!

This month, we’re meeting Jacqui from Life, Love and Chaos.

1. Tell us about yourself and your blog.

I am a wife, mother of four boys, local councillor and generally busy person. My blog is a parenting and lifestyle blog which covers most aspects of the busy life we lead. I have just started a new series called 'Cooking with Kids' which is a write up of our weekly food experiments, including family friendly recipes, so keep an eye out for it!

2. What is your current relationship status

Happily married.

3. Do you ever celebrate Valentine's’ Day?

Not really. Our first date was 20th February, so we tend to go out the week later having bought each other discounted valentines cards - romantic!

4. It’s your first date! Where do you go?

Now it would be for a meal to get to know the person. Then it was the cinema…

5. What’s the most romantic thing anyone has ever done for you?

Scattered roses up the stairs for when I came home, for no other reason than he felt he hadn't let me know how much I was loved and appreciated enough.

6. What is your favourite romantic film? Cheesier the better.

Love Actually. Gets me every time. Apart from the Emma Thomson storyline, which upsets me every time. Cheesy film I know but I love the snapshots of people's lives and loves.

7. Spill the beans! Who’s your celebrity crush?

Martin Shaw 15 years ago... Or Colin Firth 10 years ago... I think I'm a bit out of touch with any modern options as I never get to watch much anymore.

8. Flowers are pretty popular at this time of year. Do you like receiving them or do they really not float your boat?

Flowers are nice as a sign someone cares. Wine or chocolate may be more appreciated though…

9. Do you have children? Do you want any (or any more)?

Yes, four boys, 5 and under! And after being told by a 5 year old recently that I must be greedy for having so many, I think I'd better stop there.

10. What would be (or was) your choice of song for your first dance at your wedding?

Red is the Rose - a beautiful Irish song we both loved. We were lucky to have an amazing 6 piece band, after the one we had booked pulled out 3 weeks before the wedding!

11. Do you have any plans yet for Valentine’s Day 2017?

If I can get a babysitter my husband and I will go to the Mayor's Valentine's 'soiree' - in a lovely venue and raising money for local good causes, but possibly not the most romantic of evenings.

12. Raw oysters are pretty famous for being an aphrodisiac. Have you ever tried them?

Yes, and I'm not a fan. Too slimy for me.

13. Imagining money's no object, where would you go for a romantic getaway?

Bali or Indonesia. I haven't travelled to many exotic places, and would love to see more of the world. The hope is to do that in retirement once the kids are grown up. Don't burst my bubble please…

14. What’s the best Valentine’s gift you’ve ever received?

A card from my eldest son. Corny I know, but we don't really do Valentine’s gifts, and that was one that really made me smile.

15. Finally, what is the number one most important thing you value in a relationship.

Honesty and trust, which you can't have without good communication. I know that's more than 1, but they're linked. Maybe you could take them as my top 3?
