"Mum I Lied About Hurting My Leg"

On the 20th September 2014 at 4 weeks pregnant I told my mother she was going to be a Nanna. At the time I was training for my second marathon, which I decided to pull out of. Earlier that day I had told mum that I had really hurt my leg, the excuse I would need to keep up for 8 more weeks. At such an exciting but scary time, I needed my mum there so I changed my mind and told her.
"Mum I lied about hurting my leg, I haven't hurt it at all."
Mum stared blankly at me, then the look of disappointment crossed her face. My eyes welled up and so did hers, had she guessed?
"I'M PREGNANT!" I shouted (by accident, it was meant to be a secret for another 8 weeks remember).
Instantly Mum's expression changed and we shared a moment of excitement.
It turned out to all be perfect timing, Mum was studying photography and needed an idea for her end of year project. I became it. Every 1 or 2 months we would have a photo shoot, to show the different stages and the journey of pregnancy. I will admit, it was tough having to pack bags of clothes, make up and hair accessories and having to take them whenever I went for a photo shoot but it was definitely worth it. There was often times when all I wanted to do was sleep and most of the time I would catch my self drifting.
Despite the long days and how tiring it was, my mother captured some beautiful photos. There's one photo in particular that gives me chills every time I look at it.

I love looking through the photos, seeing my bump and how it grew over the months. We also managed to get some photos of Aella when she was weeks old. Below there is a gallery of my favourites
